Conures bring energy and curiosity to a household. Their needs vary by species and individual, but a useful starting point is a stable routine with opportunities to move, forage and choose how to interact.
Plan for active days
Give your bird secure housing and supervised time in a bird-safe area. A few well-chosen climbing and foraging activities are more useful than a crowded space. Inspect toys and perches for wear, especially when your bird is an enthusiastic chewer.
Build trust through small steps
Watch whether the bird approaches, pauses or moves away. Reward voluntary participation, keep sessions short and avoid forcing a step-up. The training guide and behavior guide work well together here.
- Clean food and water dishes daily.
- Offer supervised play and a chance to rest.
- Notice changes in appetite or normal activity.
See the Care Guides hub for housing and enrichment, or return to all species.
